My skin has been getting pretty bad. I was breaking out where I had never broken out. Stress, lack of sleep, too much ice cream, all could have been contributing factors to my acne. While on antibiotics for it, those weren't enough. 

After crying about this over the sink in my bathroom, trying not to touch my face (DON'T TOUCH YOUR FACE), I have tried medicine, topical and oral, I've slept more, I hadn't eaten ice cream and I had reduced some things in my life that would have been stressful. It was time for a holistic approach.

I usually don't like this kind of treatment. I usually think it's hippie nonsense. I was so wrong. 

I bought lavender essential oil at a Duane Reade for like $7. Good deal. It's recommended that you don't just smother your face/body in this stuff as it is very strong and can dry your skin out. It's best to mix it with another natural mild substance. 

There are few things in this world that I love more than my sister. But I think I love coconut oil more than Brigid.

When in doubt, COCONUT OIL.

Hot date? COCONUT OIL. Out of butter? COCONUT OIL. Hair damage? COCONUT OIL. No lotion? COCONUT OIL. Broke up with your boyfriend? COCONUT OIL. Had terrible sex? COCONUT OIL.

Anyway, I take a little scoop of coconut oil and a few drops of lavender, mix it together and gently rub it on my face. I let it sit for 5-10 minutes then I blot my face with a dry washcloth as to leave some moisture on my face but take off excess oil.

Skin wise, I recommend lavender and tea tree oil. Both have benefits beyond improved complexion!

Tea tree oil is great for treating psoriasis and eczema, can be used as deodorant and toothpaste and even a household cleaner! Lavender oil should be... essential in every household. The benefits are outstanding. Lavender oil will give you a little ease when bedtime rolls around. It's been known to increase sleep regularity. It's a great holistic alternative to medication when it comes to anxiety. With its soothing scent it can treat migraines, nervous tension and emotional stress. It's especially good during cold and flu season as it can be used as a vapor or applied to face or neck to clear respiratory passages. 

I am telling you. The NEXT DAY, my skin was already 75% better. It was amazing. And it felt even better knowing that there weren't any crazy chemicals going into my pores!
