Something New That You Would Never Do

Luke Neville of NevNYC invited me to go to BookCon with him after he won two tickets. BookCon is an event thats planned by ReedPOP (the same people who organized the first NY Comic Con) where authors, producers and celebrities alike, come together to share their work and love for the written word.

Who else remembers the summer reading thing by Scholastic?

Now, God knows I never actually would have purchased tickets to BookCon like a proper nerd. Luke won the tickets from Books on the Subway and invited me to tag a long. Luke is my partner in crime and I would love to just spend my saturday's with him in any place we might find ourselves. This particular Saturday we found ourselves in the place where the 2016 Clinton campaign ultimately failed (see, Javit's Center).

But as we all know, where Clinton fails, Chad Michael Murray flourishes. Mr. Murray was at BookCon doing a meet and greet for his new novel, "American Drifter" (coauthored by Heather Graham) and I know for a fact that the girls waiting in line to see him had never read the book.

And wow, he definitely looks how Chad Michael Murray should look in 2017.

There was a lot of Clifford happening that day.

There was a lot of Clifford happening that day.

We were walking around for hours, it was a huge convention. We collected tote bags, bookmarks, eye glasses cleaner (because apparently we just like to make that assumption), chocolate (?), excerpts from books that haven't even been published and actually hearing the very shocking statement about a radio show, "it's better than The Soprano's ". Apparently Bobby De Niro is a fan. But what am I supposed to do? Trust De Niro now? After Dirty Grandpa

Glad we look like brother and sister.

Again, I never would have taken the chance to go to this thing if it wasn't free. But after attending on a whim, I think I would actually purchase the tickets and go again.

Go do something you're not sure you'd like. Actually look at those events that pop up on Facebook that are happening in your area, take a friend and GO! It could be the best time and a new hobby or something new to look forward too. It could be the absolute worst time, too. And if you take a really good friend, it becomes the best-worst time. Live your life and do something new. Life's too goddamn short to follow a routine on Saturday's.
